Adventure #1 - Sun Valley

For Christmas this year, Curtis surprised me with an INCREDIBLY thoughtful gift.  In May, we will be celebrating 10 years of marriage.  Instead of taking a big trip or doing something big in May to celebrate, we will be celebrating ALL YEAR LONG.  We are taking 10 romantic get-a-ways.  Each one focuses on something specific I love and I think he is absolutely awesome for putting so much thought and effort into this.  Not to mention I am so excited to have something to look forward to nearly every single month.  Our first adventure was to Sun Valley, ID.  I was hesitant about going, since we live in Utah and have awesome resorts just minutes from our house.  I worried the extra travel time and cost of gas, etc. wouldn't be worth the drive and time away from our kids.  Plus, it was Super Bowl weekend and my house is always the party house for those kinds of events, not to mention the 49ers were playing and I didn't want Curtis to miss out on celebrating with his friends and family.  Curtis, however, was super excited and didn't even care about only watching the Super Bowl with me in our hotel room.  I had heard awesome things about Sun Valley, but had never been there and really didn't know what to expect.

I was NOT disappointed.  It was one of my favorite ski spots yet.  We only hit Bald Mountain and skied River Run, but it was AMAZING! 

We definitely have more snow in Utah, and maybe a little bit better snow (they hadn't had a storm in awhile) but the weather was perfect, the sky and air were clear, and the view was spectacular. 

The resort is super nice and I must say riding a gondola up to over 9,000 ft is awesome.  The trail was super long and super pretty and super fun. The trails scared me at first, because a lot of them are seriously right on the side of the mountain and one wrong turn or failure to stop and you are going off the mountain.  It was a little intimidating...I won't lie. 

And the view from the top was unreal.  Seriously so gorgeous.  This picture doesn't even begin to do it justice.  It brought tears to my eyes. 

It was a very romantic weekend get-a-way, full of many of my absolute favorite things..

And I can now say I've been to Sun Valley, ID. 

I am a big fan too.  It was beautiful, fun, and a great deal.  

I would definitely go back there again and I really hope I get the chance to.
