Making memories
We always sing "The 12 Days of Christmas" but make up our own words to go along with things that have happened that year or just silly funny things. It is always a memorable song. This year we sang...
12 more months til Christmas (sung by both my Grandma's)
11 - Lemons for Alema (no Picture, sung by Donny and Cody)
10- TEN (sung by Taylor and Brecken, we were short a few people this year so they had to go twice and must have used up all their creative jucies on #1.)
3 - ah blaah muh ah (Emilee and Holly had a hard time coming up with something, so they just said 3 and then mumbled the rest, it was funny)
2 Lost suitcases (poor Tonya and Daniel had a heck of a time getting here. Their plane got delayed 2 DAYS and then their luggage got lost. We were sure glad to have them here though!)
And Grandma the Return Missionary! (Sung by Taylor and Brecken) Great way to end/start the song. Fun times!
Another one of my favorite traditions is we play bingo for white elephant gifts. A couple years ago I made these bingo cards and we have used them ever since. Instead of shouting out I-21 or something, we shout out names in our family. The kids love hearing their names shout out, it helps us remember those who aren't there who we love as we shout out their names, and of course the presents are always great. This year some of our winnings included a lint roller (which was desperately needed), some moon sand, a My Little Pony, and a Princess cell phone.
This season I am so VERY grateful for my Grandma and my family. I hope they know how much I love them all and how much I treasure our holiday traditions.
